Edgcumbe is a specialized mental health unit providing short-term assessment and care for individuals experiencing organic mental health problems, such as dementia (like Alzheimer’s). These conditions can affect people of all ages, and Edgcumbe offers support regardless of age or diagnosis.

Requirements
- NVQ Level 3 or QCF Level 3 in Health and Social Care (or equivalent experience/qualification).
- UK Care Certificate.
- Genuine interest in working with people with organic mental health problems.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Good time management and ability to work under pressure.
- A compassionate, caring, and approachable nature.

About the Role
As a Healthcare Assistant at Edgcumbe, you’ll be providing vital support to individuals with organic mental health problems. You’ll be working as part of a team, assisting nurses in delivering physical, social, and psychological care. This could involve everything from helping with personal care to engaging patients in activities and providing emotional support. It’s a challenging but incredibly rewarding role where you can truly make a difference.
Key Responsibilities
- Assisting nurses in providing holistic care to patients.
- Supporting patients with personal care, hygiene, and other daily needs.
- Engaging patients in therapeutic activities and promoting their wellbeing.
- Monitoring patients’ mental health and reporting any changes to qualified staff.
- Working with patients, families, and carers to develop and implement care plans.
- Maintaining accurate patient records and documentation.
- Working within the unit and potentially in community settings.
- Providing mentorship and support to junior staff.
