Requirements
- GCSE Grade 4–9 in English and Maths or equivalent recognised qualification
- NVQ Level 2 in Health and Social Care or equivalent
- Completed Care Certificate with evidence
- Paediatric experience in a hospital, hospice or community setting
- Strong communication skills and ability to work as part of a team
- Demonstrated compassion and commitment to patient care
- Understanding of safeguarding, dignity, respect, infection control and confidentiality
- Willingness to develop through in-house study

About the Role
As a Healthcare Assistant Band 3, you’ll be working closely with registered practitioners to deliver safe, compassionate care to children and young people. You’ll support families too, offering reassurance when they need it most.
The role is hands-on and varied, covering both clinical and non-clinical duties. You’ll monitor wellbeing, assist with nutrition and hydration, maintain infection control standards and help children feel safe and respected. Every action you take will support better outcomes for patients and smoother working for your colleagues.
You’ll also gain autonomy within your responsibilities, being trusted to act confidently while knowing support is always there. It’s not just about carrying out tasks but understanding why they matter, and using your judgment to make care meaningful.
