Job Summary

Greyfriars Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) is seeking a highly motivated and compassionate band 3 Healthcare Assistant. The unit, a 10-bedded mixed PICU, provides care for individuals with severe and enduring mental health needs. The ideal candidate will be passionate about making a real difference in the lives of those experiencing mental health difficulties, with excellent communication skills and a genuine commitment to patient care.

Main Duties of the Job

Participate and assist in the delivery of care services to patients and service users within the Mental Health and Social Care Health Service.
Work flexibly across different shifts throughout the week, including weekends and varying times of the day.
Support patients in their daily routines, contributing to their overall mental well-being.
Assist with social and recreational activities, promoting a positive and safe environment.
Maintain the highest standards of compassionate care, ensuring adherence to healthcare guidelines and protocols.

Person Specification
Qualifications

Completion of a ward-based training programme or equivalent to Level 3 NVQ.
Willingness to undertake further training, including the Level 3 Healthcare Support Worker Apprenticeship.

Desirable

Formal NVQ Level 3 in a relevant health-related subject.

Experience

Significant experience in mental health inpatient settings (NHS or private provider), Crisis Home Treatment Teams, or similar roles demonstrating Level 3 competencies.

Desirable

Experience providing social and recreational activities for patients.
