Job Summary
Greyfriars Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) is seeking a highly motivated and compassionate band 3 Healthcare Assistant. The unit, a 10-bedded mixed PICU, provides care for individuals with severe and enduring mental health needs. The ideal candidate will be passionate about making a real difference in the lives of those experiencing mental health difficulties, with excellent communication skills and a genuine commitment to patient care.
Main Duties of the Job
- Participate and assist in the delivery of care services to patients and service users within the Mental Health and Social Care Health Service.
- Work flexibly across different shifts throughout the week, including weekends and varying times of the day.
- Support patients in their daily routines, contributing to their overall mental well-being.
- Assist with social and recreational activities, promoting a positive and safe environment.
- Maintain the highest standards of compassionate care, ensuring adherence to healthcare guidelines and protocols.

Person Specification
Qualifications
- Completion of a ward-based training programme or equivalent to Level 3 NVQ.
- Willingness to undertake further training, including the Level 3 Healthcare Support Worker Apprenticeship.
Desirable
- Formal NVQ Level 3 in a relevant health-related subject.
Experience
- Significant experience in mental health inpatient settings (NHS or private provider), Crisis Home Treatment Teams, or similar roles demonstrating Level 3 competencies.
Desirable
- Experience providing social and recreational activities for patients.
