Requirements
- NVQ level 2 or 3 in Health Care with experience as a Healthcare Assistant
- Understanding of minor ops work and related admin duties
- Strong commitment to confidentiality and safeguarding
- Ability to deliver safe, compassionate and effective care
- UK driving licence for travel to satellite clinics
- Positive team player who can adapt and manage time well
- Experience in Clinical Governance is an advantage
- Extra points if you’ve worked in minor ops, recovery, audits or community care

This post is Band 4 under Agenda for Change, with a salary between £23,000 and £25,000 a year depending on experience.
About the Role
This role blends both hands-on care and essential admin work. As a Healthcare Assistant, you’ll be part of the Minor Operations team, helping patients feel safe and supported before, during and after surgery. You’ll prep rooms, assist in procedures, provide post-op advice, and follow up with patients so no one feels left behind.
On the admin side, you’ll help manage supplies, process results, and support booking processes that keep services running smoothly. It’s a role where no two days look quite the same, and every task ties back to patient care. The small details matter here because they add up to safe, smooth, impactful work.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and maintain procedure rooms so patients receive care in safe environments
- Provide reassurance and guidance during surgery so patients feel supported
- Share post-operative information that helps recovery feel less daunting
- Remove sutures and offer clinical advice to patients and colleagues as needed
- Participate in assessments and follow-up appointments to complete patient pathways
- Ensure consumables and equipment are available and ready, making services seamless
- Process patient results and enquiries to keep care flowing without delay
- Promote infection control and health and safety so everyone stays protected
