Requirements
- Diploma in Health and Social Care Level 2 or equivalent (or willingness to work towards it)
- Care Certificate within 12 weeks if you haven’t already achieved it
- Literacy and Numeracy Level 2 or equivalent
- Willingness to complete full Healthcare Assistant Framework within probationary period
- Clear and confident communication, written and verbal
- Good time management and organisational skills
- Team player with compassion and resilience
- Previous HCA or care experience is helpful but not essential for trainee posts

This is a Band 3 Agenda for Change role, with pay ranging from £24,937 to £26,598 per year.
About the Role
This role is based on two specialist wards for older people living with Dementia and other mental health conditions. As a Healthcare Assistant or Trainee, you’ll be the kind of person who notices the small things that bring comfort to someone’s day.
You’ll help patients maintain dignity, privacy and wellbeing, supporting them with personal care, daily routines and meaningful interactions. Working closely with nurses, doctors and therapists, you’ll be part of a team that puts person centred care first.
For trainees, there’s a clear pathway to gain your qualifications while building hands on experience. And for those already qualified, it’s a chance to grow skills in a supportive team where every contribution matters.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist patients with daily care so they feel safe and respected
- Support therapeutic activities that promote recovery and wellbeing
- Maintain clear records to ensure continuity and safe care
- Work as part of a multidisciplinary team so patients and families feel fully supported
- Uphold confidentiality and patient dignity at all times
- Respond with compassion to the needs of patients and carers, making their experience more positive
