Requirements

  • A Levels or NVQ Level 3 in biological or healthcare sciences
  • Experience in biological lab work with attention to detail

Salary Details

Band 3, Agenda for Change pay scheme, between £24,937 and £26,598 per year, pro rata.

About the Role

This role offers the chance to join Cambridge Genomics Laboratory as a Healthcare Science Associate, working within the East Genomic Laboratory Hub. Day to day, the associate will handle sample receipt, processing, and general lab duties that keep diagnostic services running smoothly.

Once trained, the associate will play an important role in DNA extraction, PCR testing, and preparing reagents, directly supporting the delivery of genetic testing for patients. It’s meaningful work that underpins vital healthcare decisions while opening doors to long-term career growth.

The role can be adapted to include a Level 6 apprenticeship pathway, leading to a BSc in Biomedical Science while working full-time. This makes it a fantastic opportunity for those eager to grow into biomedical or healthcare science careers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Receive, log, and process patient samples to ensure smooth diagnostics
  • Carry out DNA extraction and PCR testing to support accurate results
