About the Role
This is more than a lab job. It’s a gateway into a clinical environment where each slide you prepare could shape a diagnosis. As a Healthcare Scientist Associate Practitioner, you’ll support Medical Pathologists and Biomedical Scientists in processing tissue biopsies and resections. From embedding and cutting tissue blocks to prepping non‑gynae samples and running special stains, you’ll handle each task with care and accuracy. They’ll count on you not just for technical precision, but for your steady presence during time‑sensitive procedures.
Got experience in immunocytochemistry or mega‑blocks? Even better.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in dissection of biopsies and resection organs to support diagnostics
- Handle processing, embedding, and microtomy of various tissue samples
- Conduct special stains and assist with immunocytochemistry procedures
- Support non-gynaecological sample preparation
- Provide occasional assistance in the hospital mortuary
- Maintain lab protocols and help uphold ISO15189 quality standards
- Use lab systems like Cerner and contribute to audits or documentation updates
