Role Overview
This position involves supporting the fracture and orthopedic clinics, including assisting Orthopedic Practitioners in the plaster room. Opportunities for training in applying and removing casts and splints are available, making an interest in this area essential. Previous knowledge of basic casting, anatomy, and plaster room operations would be advantageous.
Responsibilities include preparing clinic rooms, assisting consultants and registrars during clinics, and providing patient support through chaperoning, taking blood samples, and performing basic dressings. The role involves working with Orthopedic Practitioners to gain casting expertise, with the possibility of achieving the British Orthopedic Certificate for casting. Additionally, the worker will support general clinic operations, escort patients to other departments, and liaise with multidisciplinary teams.
