Requirements
- Completed secondary education and ability to complete the Care Certificate within six months.
- Capable of achieving NVQ Level 3 in care or equivalent experience.

Salary Details

About the Role
As a Healthcare Support Worker in the Emergency Department, you’ll work closely with nurses and doctors to deliver hands-on care for patients during their most critical moments. Every day brings new challenges, from assisting with patient hygiene to taking physiological measurements or supporting clinical procedures.
You’ll play an essential part in maintaining patient comfort and dignity while helping the team provide fast, responsive care. With structured learning and monthly study days, you’ll build new skills in areas like cannulation, catheterisation, and ECGs. Completing your development plan moves you up to a Band 3 Senior Healthcare Support Worker position, unlocking further growth opportunities within UHS.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist patients with hygiene and mobility so they feel comfortable and supported.
- Serve meals and support feeding to maintain nutrition and wellbeing.
- Help collect specimens such as urine, sputum, or faeces to aid diagnosis.
- Support nurses during emergency care through patient preparation and observation.
- Maintain clean, safe environments by helping with bed making and ward tasks.
- Provide reassurance to families during stressful times, ensuring clear communication.
