Requirements
- Full UK Driving Licence
- HGV Cat C licence with current CPC qualification
- Experience driving various vehicle types
- Comfort dealing with customers and navigating South Wales routes
- Basic awareness of Health and Safety and Manual Handling
- A reliable team player who understands the responsibility of NHS logistics
- ADR Awareness and vehicle maintenance knowledge are a bonus
Salary Details
This Band 2 role pays £24,833 per annum on a full-time basis. This is a 3-month fixed term role covering an absence, with potential for extension.
About the Role
This isn’t just a driving job — it’s about keeping the NHS running. As a Stores Operative and HGV Driver, you’ll help maintain vital supply lines across South Wales. You’ll load, transport, and deliver everything from blood samples to medical kits to hospitals, GP surgeries, and pharmacies.
Based at the Bridgend Regional Store, you’ll handle stock control duties, prepare and replenish store items, and ensure the secure handling of sensitive goods like blood products and confidential records. The impact? You’re helping frontline teams do their job without delay.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely drive and operate HGVs and vans across NHS Wales locations
- Transport a variety of NHS supplies including medical consumables, samples, and records
- Load, unload, and check stock at the store and delivery points
- Keep vehicle logs, report issues, and maintain cleanliness and safety standards
- Interact with NHS staff and suppliers with professionalism and care
- Ensure secure handling of ADR goods and adhere to legislative protocols
