Requirements
• Degree in Speech and Language Therapy
• HCPC registration
• Post graduate training in paediatric dysphagia
• Confident working in neonatal and paediatric critical care
• Clear communication style and able to stay calm in difficult moments
• Strong organisational habits
• Happy working in a mixed team of doctors nurses and AHPs
• Able to travel to other sites when needed
• Experience supervising junior staff
• Videofluoroscopy experience is welcome
Salary Details
The role sits at Band 7 with a pro rata yearly salary between £47,810 and £54,710.
About the Role
This role sits at the heart of neonatal care. The therapist provides specialist assessment and treatment for NICU and SCBU infants. They guide early feeding support for preterm and sick babies while helping families understand each step. They join an experienced MDT and work closely with nurses and medical teams.
One day each week is spent supporting neonatal colleagues on the southbank in Grimsby and Scunthorpe. They also link with community paediatric teams across the area which helps create a joined up pathway for vulnerable infants. Someone who enjoys variety and wants to have a clear impact on early development will feel at home here. They will have autonomy while knowing support is always on hand when needed. Soft question though. Would they enjoy using their specialist skills to help babies at their most delicate stage
Key Responsibilities
• Complete specialist assessments that guide feeding and communication plans so infants get the right start
• Work closely with the MDT so every child receives joined up care
• Provide skilled advice to families which helps reduce anxiety and builds confidence
• Offer guidance to community SLTs so transitions run smoothly
• Support Videofluoroscopy clinics to improve diagnostic accuracy
• Supervise junior colleagues which strengthens the wider team
• Take part in research and audit so practice stays current
