The Role: Hospital Housekeeper

Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is looking for a dedicated Housekeeper to join their team on M2, a Respiratory Ward within the GRaDE care group (Gastro Respiratory and Diabetes Endocrinology). This is an exciting opportunity to make a real difference in patient care by providing a friendly, clean, safe, and comfortable environment for patients and ward staff.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure bed areas are clean and prepared for new patients
  • Care for and clean equipment
  • Clean and make beds
  • Maintain patients’ lockers and bed areas
  • Assist patients with meal choices as directed by the Nurse in Charge
  • Help with setting tables, serving meals, cleaning crockery, and replenishing water jugs

What They’re Looking For

  • GCSE English and Maths at Grade D/3 or above
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to work within a team and use own initiative
  • Experience in a customer service environment
  • Familiarity with Microsoft packages and information systems
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize workload
  • Approachable manner and understanding of workplace confidentiality

Nice-to-Haves

  • Experience in a caring or hotel/catering environment
  • Clerical / IT qualification or relevant experience
  • Working towards Regulated Qualification Framework (RQF) level 2 or 3 (NVQ2/3)
  • Experience at a supervisory level
