Wirral University Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is looking for a skilled and compassionate Care Coordinator/Support Worker to join their HPB (Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary) cancer services team. This is a pivotal role for those who want to actively improve the lives of people living with cancer by helping them navigate care pathways and access the support they need when they need it most.

This opportunity is open to UK-based applicants who meet eligibility for Skilled Worker sponsorship.

What You’ll Be Doing
You’ll act as the single point of contact for patients undergoing cancer treatment. This means offering tailored information, coordinating services, and ensuring rapid access to care during urgent or complex phases. From organising well-being clinics to promoting patient independence and self-management, your focus will be on improving the entire survivorship experience.

You will:

  • Deliver holistic support and coordinate cancer care pathways
  • Organise health and well-being clinics that empower patients to manage their care
  • Facilitate quick re-entry into the system for patients with urgent needs
  • Be a consistent, compassionate presence across the patient journey
  • Support the development and implementation of survivorship strategies

What They’re Looking For
Essential Skills and Experience:

  • NVQ Level 3 in Health or Social Care
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in a health or social care setting
  • At least 2 years of experience supporting cancer patients
  • Strong awareness of cancer-specific needs and pathways
  • Excellent communication and multitasking skills
  • Confident with Microsoft Office and digital recordkeeping
  • 5 GCSEs grade C or above, including English and Maths

Desirable Skills:

  • Communication or counselling qualifications
  • Knowledge of cancer treatments and terminology
  • Familiarity with Macmillan Cancer Support or national cancer strategies
  • Prior experience as a senior support worker or with tumour-specific patient groups
  • Experience managing a patient workload independently

Personal Attributes Required:

  • Sensitive, empathetic, and adaptable
  • Able to work autonomously and as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Calm under pressure, diplomatic, and objective
  • Professional maturity and enthusiasm for the role
  • Willingness to work flexibly and travel across sites if needed
