Job Summary

North Tees and Hartlepool NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a highly skilled ICT Server Analyst to join the ICT Server Team, responsible for the management and support of the Trust’s Server and Storage Infrastructure. This role is ideal for a motivated IT professional with strong knowledge of server administration, operating systems, virtualization, databases, and IT security.

The ICT Server Analyst will assist in the administration, maintenance, and optimization of ICT systems, ensuring that the Trust’s critical business processes operate efficiently with minimal disruptions. The role requires independent working, problem-solving, and an in-depth understanding of complex ICT environments.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Maintain and support the Trust’s ICT infrastructure, ensuring business processes function efficiently.
  • Handle planned and unplanned ICT system interruptions, ensuring swift resolution with minimal disruption.
  • Provide strategic operational support for servers and storage systems at University Hospital of North Tees (UHNT), University Hospital of Hartlepool (UHH), and other sites.
  • Develop and document administrative procedures and policies for managing ICT systems.
  • Serve as the main point of contact for server infrastructure and core specialist software applications hosted at UHNT and UHH.
  • Provide specialist technical advice and troubleshoot complex ICT system issues.
  • Lead or contribute to ICT projects involving system implementation, upgrades, and security enhancements.
  • Ensure compliance with IT security policies, data protection regulations, and NHS standards.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential:

  • Degree in IT, Computer Science, or related field OR substantial equivalent work experience in ICT infrastructure management.

Desirable:

  • Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP) / Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE) or equivalent certifications.

Technical Skills & Experience

Essential:

  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Operating Systems and Active Directory (AD).
  • Experience managing Microsoft SQL Server (MSSQL) and VMWare virtualization platforms.
  • Experience supporting Horizon VDI (Virtual Desktop Infrastructure) environments.
  • Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot complex ICT system issues.

Desirable:

  • Experience working with Unix/Linux operating systems.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM).

Backup & Storage Solutions

Essential:

  • Enterprise backup solutions experience, ensuring data protection and recovery.

Desirable:

  • Familiarity with Avamar backup and restore solutions.
  • Experience with Enterprise Storage solutions such as Isilon, VNX, Unity, and PowerStore.

General Skills & Attributes

Essential:

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to investigate, diagnose, and resolve complex IT system problems.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently.

Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) Check

  • This role requires a DBS check under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975.
