Google is unveiling an opportunity for an Incident Response Consultant at Mandiant, a part of Google Cloud. This role involves working in locations such as Toronto, ON, Canada; Montreal, QC, Canada, and offering remote eligibility for locations in Ontario, CA, and Canada.

Minimum qualifications for this role include a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience, along with 3 years of investigative experience. This experience should cover network forensics, log analysis, malware triage analysis, disk, and memory forensics in Linux or Unix. The candidate should also be willing to travel up to 20% of the time.

Preferred qualifications include certifications in Cloud Platforms, especially Google Cloud Platform (GCP), experience in cloud forensics, and the ability to communicate investigative findings to various stakeholders. Strong time management and communication skills, both written and verbal, are essential.

In this role, the Security Consultant will play a crucial part in helping clients prepare for, mitigate, detect, and respond to cybersecurity threats. The responsibilities include assisting clients in navigating technically complex incidents, performing forensic analysis, threat hunting, and malware triage. Additionally, the consultant will be involved in testing client networks, applications, and devices, emulating the latest techniques to enhance their defense against threats.

Mandiant Services, known for incident response, assessment, transformation, managed detection and response, and training services, is now a part of Google Cloud. The incident responders at Mandiant aim to resolve security incidents quickly, effectively, and at scale, providing complete incident response, including investigation, containment, remediation, and crisis management.

The role comes with a competitive salary range, bonus, equity, and benefits. The US base salary ranges from $103,000 to $151,000, and the British Columbia base salary ranges from CAD 116,000 to 131,000.

Responsibilities for the Incident Response Consultant include collaborating with internal and customer teams to investigate and contain incidents, leading small-scale investigations, contributing to complex client-facing investigations, and examining various sources of evidence. The consultant will also play a role in recognizing and codifying attacker Tools, Tactics, and Procedures (TTPs) and Indicators of Compromise (IOCs). Building scripts, tools, or methodologies to enhance Mandiant’s incident investigation processes is a key aspect, along with developing comprehensive and accurate reports and presentations for technical and non-technical audiences.
