Requirements

  • Experience supporting people facing domestic abuse in any setting
  • Confidence in risk assessment and safeguarding procedures
  • Strong partnership working skills across health, police, and local authorities
  • Counselling or child protection training would be a plus
  • Welsh Level 3 speaking and listening is desirable, not essential
  • Ability to connect with both adults and young people aged 13 and up

Salary Details

This Band 6 position pays between £37,898 and £45,637 per year, offering financial stability for full-time work across the CTM region. The contract runs for 19 months, giving you time to have a genuine impact.

About the Role

This isn’t your standard advocacy job. As an Independent Domestic Violence Advisor, you’ll step into a fast-moving frontline role helping survivors of abuse find safety, healing, and justice. You’ll work directly with both adults and young people, following up quickly after crisis moments and guiding them through every step of recovery. You’ll also serve as the main link between health services, police, social care, and third-sector organisations. It’s complex, challenging work—but you won’t be doing it alone. You’ll be backed by a close-knit safeguarding team with deep local knowledge. Key Responsibilities

  • Support clients at risk of domestic abuse with face-to-face and phone-based guidance
  • Complete risk assessments using evidence-based tools to prioritise safety
  • Coordinate multi-agency support including police, social services, and courts
  • Provide health education around healthy relationships and personal wellbeing
  • Follow up with individuals within 72 hours of an Emergency Department visit
  • Help shape system change through ongoing evaluation and feedback
