Requirements

  • Level 3 qualification in Health and Social Care or equivalent experience
  • Strong communication skills and confidence delivering support 1-1 and in groups
  • Organised and empathetic with a positive approach to helping parents and carers
  • Comfortable using IT systems and digital tools for record keeping and communication
  • Willing to travel across the borough and work flexible hours to meet service needs

Salary Details

This post is offered on the Agenda for Change Band 3 pay scheme, starting at £24,937 and rising to £26,598 per annum based on experience.

About the Role

This role sits within the St Helens Wellbeing Team, helping new families navigate the early stages of parenting. You’ll provide tailored support on infant feeding, offering guidance by phone, home visit or group session. Alongside promoting evidence-based feeding practices, you’ll use digital tools to connect families and track progress.

The role blends education, empathy and community outreach. Each interaction helps build parents’ confidence, reduce stress and improve infant health outcomes across the borough.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support families with responsive infant feeding advice to improve bonding and nutrition
  • Deliver sessions in person and online to encourage confidence in early parenting
  • Promote evidence-based feeding information across St Helens through community activities
  • Build trusting relationships with midwives and maternity partners to ensure joined-up care
  • Maintain accurate records and support service evaluation to improve quality and reach
