Job Overview
YAS is seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Cyber Security Engineer to join its Infrastructure Team. The team is responsible for managing all ICT infrastructure, including networks, servers, and storage across the Trust. The role will primarily focus on ensuring the effectiveness and compliance of cyber security systems, providing escalation support for incidents, and investigating complex technical issues.

The position is based at Trust Headquarters, with scope for flexible working. However, the post-holder will be required to travel within the Yorkshire and Humber region to support staff across various locations.

Main Duties

  • Monitor Cyber Security systems, reviewing compliance with best practices and security standards.
  • Respond to vulnerabilities and cyber threats identified through scans and proactively reduce risks.
  • Record and escalate cyber security incidents, including CareCerts, and act as a point of escalation for complex issues.
  • Provide guidance on security processes and contribute to developing and improving security practices.
  • Investigate and resolve complex technical issues, providing advice as needed.
  • Monitor service performance and ensure that performance levels meet or exceed agreed standards.
  • Stay updated on industry developments and provide advice to inform business planning.
  • Collaborate with the ICT team and other colleagues to deliver day-to-day IT services and support digital strategy implementation.
  • Assist with Trust projects and manage specific ICT projects, ensuring they align with the organization’s goals.

Person Specification

  • Essential Criteria:
    • Degree or equivalent level of experience.
    • Strong technical knowledge to understand and resolve enterprise technical problems.
    • Experience with proactive IT system/network performance monitoring.
    • Understanding of cyber security best practices and terminology.
    • Good knowledge of ITIL processes.
    • Good communication skills and ability to work both autonomously and in a team.
  • Desirable Criteria:
    • Experience applying cyber security in healthcare environments.
    • Knowledge of areas like compliance, penetration testing, or incident response.
    • Professional qualification or membership in cyber security.
    • Experience in ICT service provision within a healthcare setting.
