The Fulbright Program is the premier international educational exchange initiative sponsored by the U.S. Government, aimed at fostering mutual understanding between the people of the United States and those of other countries. In Switzerland, the Fulbright Program offers students and scholars with Swiss citizenship and English proficiency the opportunity to receive funding for master’s or Ph.D. level studies or post-doctoral level teaching and research at any recognized institution of higher education in the United States, covering nearly all fields of study. Grant lengths vary from three months to one academic year depending on the program. Successful Fulbright Foreign Student Program applicants receive a grant of approximately $20,000 for one academic year, while successful Fulbright Visiting Scholar Program applicants receive a grant of about $35,000 for one academic year. Candidates from Universities of Applied Sciences and Arts are particularly encouraged to apply.
