Job Summary

The Digital Services IT Operations Team is responsible for IT strategy, development, coordination, planning, project, and program management for all digital and supporting functions within the Trust.

The IT Server Manager will lead the Server Team in providing a highly efficient and professional service to support and manage the GHC IT Server Estate. This includes overseeing physical and virtual server infrastructure, Active Directory, Office 365, and cloud solutions such as Azure, while ensuring IT security and governance compliance.

This role is critical for maintaining continuity of service and availability of clinical and business administration systems across the Trust. The post holder will act as a key liaison with customers regarding real-time IT system status and operations.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

IT Server Team Leadership

  • Ensure the IT Server Team provides high-quality IT and infrastructure services to over 5,000 staff across multiple sites.
  • Lead on the development, planning, testing, and provision of new and existing IT systems, services, and equipment for both clinical and corporate staff.
  • Provide specialist IT advice to the organization and stakeholders, identifying new products and opportunities for service improvement.
  • Work closely with the Head of IT Operations to implement IT strategy and service enhancements.

Server Management & Cybersecurity

  • Oversee physical and virtual server environments, ensuring they meet the Trust’s operational and security requirements.
  • Manage Active Directory, Office 365, and Azure cloud solutions.
  • Ensure IT systems comply with governance, security, and resiliency standards.
  • Monitor and mitigate cybersecurity threats, implementing proactive security measures.

Project Management & Service Improvement

  • Lead IT projects related to data centre technologies, infrastructure upgrades, and IT service improvements.
  • Work with Community Providers and stakeholders to ensure seamless IT support.
  • Manage IT budgets, ensuring cost-effective use of resources.

Person Specification

Experience

Essential:

  • Proven experience in IT Management.
  • Significant IT Support experience.
  • Degree in IT, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent experience).

Desirable:

  • Experience working within an NHS or healthcare organization.

Knowledge

Essential:

  • Strong technical experience in Data Centre Technologies.
  • Understanding of IT resiliency and disaster recovery.
  • Expertise in cybersecurity threats and mitigation strategies.

Desirable:

  • Hands-on experience with implementing data centre technologies.

Management Skills

Essential:

  • Experience in line management of IT teams.
  • Strong project management skills.
  • Budget management experience.

Desirable:

  • Experience managing an IT service desk and customer service operations.

Disclosure and Barring Service Check

This role is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and will require a DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check for previous criminal convictions.
