Job Opportunity: Senior Compute Platform Engineer

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, build, and operate tools, services, workflows, etc., delivering high value through the solution to key business problems.
• Develop key components of a hybrid on-prem/cloud compute platform, establish processes and workflows to transition existing HPC users to this platform.
• Code-driven environment, applications, and container/image builds, CI/CD driven application deployments.
• Consult science users on application scalability, with a deep understanding of software engineering, algorithms, and underlying hardware infrastructure.
• Optimize design and execution of complex solutions within large-scale distributed computing environments.
• Produce well-engineered software, including automated test suites, technical documentation, and operational strategy.
• Ensure consistent application of platform abstractions for quality and consistency.
• Adhere to QMS framework and CI/CD best practices.
• Provide leadership to team members.

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Data Engineering, Computer Science, Software Engineering.
• 6+ years of professional experience.
• Experience with Python, Cloud, and High-Performance Compute (HPC).

Preferred Qualifications:

• Master’s or PhD.
• Deep knowledge of at least one common programming language (Python, C++, Scala, Java).
• Expertise in modern software development tools (git/GitHub, devops tools, metrics/monitoring).
• Deep cloud expertise (AWS, Google Cloud, Azure), including infrastructure-as-code tools and scalable compute technologies.
• Experience with CI/CD implementations using git and a common CI/CD stack.
• Deep expertise with Docker, Kubernetes, and the larger CNCF ecosystem.
• Application experience of CI/CD implementations and workflow orchestration tools.
• Experience in application performance tuning and optimization.
• Familiarity with high-performance applications space and engagement with the opensource community.
