Requirements
- UK Medical Degree or Equivalent – MBBS or equivalent qualification
- Post Foundation Experience – Completed FY1 and FY2 or equivalent
- ALS/ATLS Certification – Must hold current life support certifications
- Interest in Orthopaedics – Experience in ortho departments preferred
- Team Player – Willing to contribute to a positive clinical culture
- Committed to Teaching – Confident in bedside mentoring and knowledge-sharing
- Ready for NHS – Previous NHS experience is a plus
Salary Details
This role offers a basic salary of £49,909 per annum, aligned with NHS pay scales for hospital medical and dental staff. Standard benefits include NHS pension and annual leave entitlements.
About the Role
This is a rare chance to explore trauma and orthopaedics in depth before making a long-term career commitment. As a Junior Clinical Teaching Fellow, you’ll balance clinical duties with education. Whether you’re clerking new admissions or guiding junior doctors through surgical principles, you’ll play a vital role in the department. You’ll also get hands-on exposure to research, audits, and real-world procedures. It’s the kind of experience that builds confidence fast and opens future doors in clinical medicine or academia.
Key Responsibilities
- Clerk and Admit Patients – Deliver structured assessments and coordinate care plans
- Support Daily Clinical Care – Provide safe and consistent care across orthopaedic wards
- Participate in On Call Rota – Contribute to shared emergency coverage
- Mentor Junior Colleagues – Lead bedside teaching and offer informal guidance
- Contribute to Research – Take part in audit and QI work with consultants
- Engage in Training – Learn new techniques during scheduled practical sessions
- Collaborate Across Teams – Foster strong working relationships throughout the Trust
