Salary Details
Annual salary starts from £63,150 and can rise to £73,379, depending on experience and qualifications.
About the Role
They’re not just moving systems—they’re reshaping the entire infrastructure model. As Lead Cloud Security Architect, you’ll be the linchpin ensuring every digital service migrated to Azure or GCP is built to stand strong against evolving cyber threats. You’ll set the standard, guide solution designs, and influence both architecture and governance.
This isn’t about watching from the sidelines. You’ll be in the thick of things—consulting across teams, defining best practices, and guiding their shift from on-prem to an agile, code-first model. Key Responsibilities
- Lead security design across the Cloud Transition Programme – so every system stands compliant and secure
- Define and implement technical standards – shaping the future of NHS digital services
- Liaise with suppliers and internal teams – to drive momentum and unblock technical hurdles
- Develop infrastructure work packages – ensuring clear outcomes and scalable design
- Champion automation and open-source adoption – so teams can move faster with fewer manual errors
- Advise FinOps and infrastructure teams – helping reduce costs and boost performance
- Resolve escalated programme issues – you’re the go-to when high-stakes decisions are needed
- Influence the entire community of practice – leaving a legacy in how NHS Wales builds digital health
