About the Role
Melstock Ward has stepped into a new chapter as a Delayed Discharge Unit, and this role gives you the chance to shape its future. As an Occupational Therapist here, you’ll be leading the delivery of creative, person-centred interventions that genuinely move the needle for people recovering from mental illness. It’s about helping patients re-engage with meaningful activity both in the ward and out in the community. You’ll build discharge plans that make sense and follow through with purposeful action, collaborating with local organisations and services to make sure no one falls through the cracks. If making a real-world impact and leading quality improvement lights your fire, this could be your next step.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead occupational therapy input for the unit’s evolving care model
- Deliver goal-focused, purposeful interventions in ward and community settings
- Use outcome measures to track progress and inform care decisions
- Liaise with families, external services and community partners to support smooth transitions
- Contribute to and sometimes lead on service development and improvement initiatives
- Supervise junior staff and foster team learning
Disclosure and Barring Service Check
This role requires a DBS check under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 due to patient-facing responsibilities.
Certificate of Sponsorship
Applications from candidates that require current Skilled worker sponsorship to work in the UK are unfortunately ineligible to apply for this position.
Equal Opportunity Statement
They celebrate diversity and believe in creating an inclusive space where everyone feels they belong. Whatever your background, you’ll find an environment built for you to thrive.
