Requirements
- Registered Midwife with active NMC pin
- Completed Accredited Mentorship course
- Proven experience working across antenatal and newborn screening pathways
- Confident managing screening incidents, audits, and service improvements
- Skilled in team leadership and clinical education
- Solid understanding of national screening programmes like IDPS, FASP, NBS
- Strong IT literacy including Microsoft Office and Excel
- Able to communicate clearly in English, spoken and written, including IELTs level 7 or above
- Flexible with working hours, travel, and on-call rota
Salary Details
This post offers a competitive Band 8a NHS salary between 47,810 and 54,710 per annum, depending on experience.
About the Role
This is your chance to step into a high-impact role where you can shape the delivery and governance of essential UK antenatal and newborn screening services. As the Lead Screening Coordinator, you’ll champion clinical excellence, oversee critical NHS programmes, and guide the trust in delivering safe, high-quality care to mothers and babies.
From day one, you’ll be the go-to expert on screening, working across maternity, neonatal, lab, and community teams. You’ll lead on governance, audit, data reporting, and quality assurance while mentoring staff and driving service improvements that really matter. It’s a role where your insight, leadership, and clinical expertise will help set the tone for safe and effective care across the trust.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee delivery of national screening programmes including IDPS, FASP, and NBS
- Act as lead contact for screening incidents, QA visits, and audits
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams and public health partners
- Lead on service improvements, data analysis, and governance presentations
- Support staff training across maternity, neonatal, and paediatric settings
- Line manage the Antenatal and Newborn Screening team
- Ensure all screening practices meet national NHS and UKHSA standards
