Requirements

  • 5 GCSEs at Grade C or above, including English and Maths
  • Proven experience supporting individuals with cancer or long-term health conditions
  • Confident using Microsoft Office and navigating online tools
  • Strong communication skills and a flexible, self-motivated approach
  • Willingness to undergo further training and development
  • Comfort with face-to-face and telephone-based support
  • Desirable: in-depth experience or qualification in cancer or long-term condition care

Salary Details

This role offers a competitive annual salary between £26,530 and £29,114, depending on experience and current banding within NHS pay scales.

About the Role

This is where heart meets purpose. The Macmillan Community Cancer Care Coordinator works right where people need them—in the community. They’ll provide emotional, social, and practical support to people living with cancer, especially those in ‘hard-to-reach’ groups.

The postholder will be a key player in conducting holistic needs assessments, helping develop Personalised Care and Support Plans. Whether at a GP surgery, hospital setting, or community hub, they’ll connect people with resources, provide emotional reassurance, and follow through with referrals that truly make a difference.

This role is hands-on, people-first, and never the same two days in a row. You’ll get to collaborate across teams—from public health partners to acute trust staff at Doncaster & Bassetlaw Teaching Hospitals—while promoting early cancer detection, screening, and overall awareness.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver compassionate, one-to-one support to people living with cancer across Doncaster
  • Conduct and document holistic assessments
  • Develop and support Personalised Care and Support Plans
  • Refer and signpost individuals to appropriate local and regional services
  • Work across GP practices and Doncaster Royal Infirmary
  • Build relationships with community teams and local cancer services
  • Promote cancer awareness and early diagnosis messaging
