About the Role
As a multi-skilled Maintenance Technician with an electrical bias, you will be part of the on-site team at Stepping Hill Hospital. The role involves both reactive and planned maintenance of electrical systems across the Trust’s premises, including specialist healthcare systems like IPS and UPS. You will also take responsibility for systems such as Nurse Call, Lifts, BMS, and Pneumatic Tube System, with occasional mechanical duties.

Your primary duties will include fault diagnosis, following technical data and drawings, and delivering safe and effective maintenance solutions in a healthcare environment. You will be required to work both independently and as part of a multi-discipline team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct both reactive and planned maintenance on electrical distribution systems, including IPS and UPS systems
  • Maintain and repair systems such as Nurse Call, Lifts, BMS, and Pneumatic Tube System
  • Carry out basic mechanical work as part of the role’s multi-disciplinary nature
  • Identify and rectify faults using technical data and system drawings
  • Participate in the on-call response team to assist out-of-hours staff as needed
  • Adhere to Trust policies regarding safeguarding and promote welfare

Requirements

  • Recognised electrical apprenticeship (City & Guilds or NVQ Level 3)
  • Experience with building management systems and mechanical systems, including steam and pressure systems, is an advantage
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team
  • Willingness to work overtime, both scheduled and ad-hoc, and provide on-call support

Qualifications

  • 18th Edition (City & Guilds 2382) – Essential
  • HNC/ONC in electrical or mechanical engineering – Desirable
  • AP LV Safe Systems of Work – Desirable
  • AP Boilers & Pressure Systems – Desirable
