Requirements

  • Degree in Building Services Engineering or equivalent 
  • Qualified Chartered Engineer or membership of equivalent professional association 
  • Extensive post-qualification training and experience in Estates, Facilities, and complex project management 
  • Extensive experience of managing mechanical and electrical plant to critical services 
  • Experience in implementing, developing, and operating safe systems of work 
  • Strong knowledge of statutory and local requirements, including electrical regulations, planning permissions, and conservation area applications 
  • Full driving licence (required)

About the Role
As a Mechanical Engineer, you will advise the Building Services Manager on building service issues affecting the planning and implementation of the Trust-Wide Estates strategy. You will prepare and develop annual programmes for building services maintenance and capital projects, investigate market trends for procurement and building services management, and ensure the continuous supply of plant and utilities to essential LAS services. You will also develop and maintain Engineering Standards and Corporate Maintenance Policies, project manage all Estates major engineering projects, and ensure compliance with Health and Safety requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Advise the Building Services Manager on building service issues 
  • Prepare and develop annual programmes for building services maintenance and capital projects 
  • Investigate market trends for procurement and building services management 
  • Ensure continuous supply of plant and utilities to essential LAS services 
  • Develop and maintain Engineering Standards and Corporate Maintenance Policies 
  • Project manage all Estates major engineering projects 
  • Ensure compliance with Health and Safety requirements 
  • Deputise in the absence of the Building Services Manager 
  • Arrange planned and ad hoc repairs and maintenance of building, mechanical, and electrical works 
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of new legislation covering building mechanical and electrical services
