The Role: Bank Mental Health Care Assistant

As a Band 3 Bank Mental Health Care Assistant, you’ll be the backbone of patient care, supporting those with various mental health conditions. This role is all about engagement and observation, requiring a steady hand and a kind heart.

What You’ll Do:

  • Provide enhanced care for patients, guided by their care plans and risk assessments
  • Use your top-notch communication skills to de-escalate situations and engage in meaningful conversations
  • Support relatives and carers when appropriate
  • Work closely with qualified nurses, taking on assigned tasks under their supervision
  • Build solid relationships with patients, always prioritizing their safety
  • Handle personal care tasks like toileting, feeding, and hygiene needs
  • Keep an eye on vital signs and report any changes

Who You Are:

  • An experienced Healthcare Support Worker with at least a year under your belt
  • Someone who gets mental health and can handle challenging behavior with empathy
  • A pro at providing quality care without constant supervision
  • Flexible and adaptable, ready to meet patients’ needs
  • A good listener who’s sympathetic to patients, carers, and relatives
  • GCSE educated (or equivalent) with at least 5 A-E qualifications, including Maths and English
  • NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care (or equivalent) qualified or experienced

Nice-to-Haves:

  • Previous experience in a mental health service
  • Care Certificate
  • Basic understanding of risk management in healthcare
