Job Overview

The role involves working with the First Response (Crisis) team to deliver community mental health treatment. The service is transitioning to a 24/7 crisis and acute home treatment model, offering opportunities for professional development.

Main Duties

Deliver clinical care to individuals experiencing mental health crises.

Conduct telephone triage, crisis assessment, and home treatment.

Undertake face-to-face assessments in diverse settings.

Refer individuals to appropriate mental health services following assessment.

Provide community-based treatment as an alternative to inpatient admission.

Essential Requirements

Professional qualification in Mental Health Nursing, Social Work, or Occupational Therapy.

Current professional registration.

Significant clinical experience in mental health crisis services.

Valid driving license and access to a vehicle for work purposes (unless exempt under the Equality Act 2010).

Desirable Attributes

Postgraduate clinical and therapeutic qualifications.

Approved Mental Health Professional (AMHP) training.

Qualifications

Essential: Professional degree in Mental Health Nursing, Social Work, or Occupational Therapy; Preceptorship and Mentorship Training; evidence of continued professional development.

Desirable: Postgraduate qualifications and AMHP training.

Experience

Essential: Experience in crisis services, safeguarding procedures, and working with challenging behaviors.

Desirable: Exposure to diverse clinical groups, including older adult mental health and substance misuse.

Skills

Essential: Risk assessment, crisis intervention, and communication skills.

Desirable: Experience in psycho-social interventions and clinical supervision.

Knowledge

Essential: Legislation, ethical considerations, and guidelines for mental health crisis care.

Desirable: Supervision facilitation and strategic frameworks for crisis pathways.
