Requirements

  • Foundation degree or NVQ Level 4 in a healthcare subject
  • GCSEs in English and Maths
  • At least 6 months experience in an acute hospital or clinical setting
  • Confident supporting individuals with mental health conditions
  • Skilled in therapeutic de-escalation and understanding patient risk
  • Strong communicator with basic knowledge of mental health law and intervention pathways
  • Comfortable using electronic patient systems and documenting care

About the Role

As a Mental Health Practitioner, you’ll work closely with patients in emotional distress, helping them regain calm, confidence, and clarity. This isn’t just clinical work. It’s deeply human. You’ll deliver hands-on care designed to ease anxiety, reduce distress, and restore dignity.

You’ll play a pivotal role in each patient’s journey by identifying triggers, responding with compassion, and supporting recovery through evidence-based interventions. Every shift you’ll be part of a multidisciplinary team, balancing compassion with critical thinking. This role suits someone who’s adaptable, calm under pressure, and driven to make each interaction count.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support patients with therapeutic interventions that ease mental health symptoms
  • Help reduce agitation, self-harm risks, and distress using trauma-informed approaches
  • Work with nurses and clinicians to implement care plans and track progress
  • Interact with families and carers to ensure continuity of support
  • Take clinical observations and maintain accurate documentation
  • Uphold patient dignity, confidentiality, and rights at all times
