Requirements
- NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Electrical Installation or Engineering
- Hands-on experience with electrical maintenance in complex buildings
- Basic knowledge of mechanical and building systems
- Understanding of the Electricity at Work Act 1989
- Competent using engineering drawings and testing equipment
- Comfortable wearing PPE and working to health and safety standards
- Full UK driving licence
Salary Details
The pay scale starts at £26,530 and rises to £29,114 per annum, with additional pay for on-call duties, overtime, and emergency cover when needed.
About the Role
This job’s for someone who thrives on fixing things before they break. As a Multi Skilled Electrical Engineer, you’ll handle planned and reactive maintenance across the hospital’s electrical systems. It’s not just plugs and sockets. We’re talking nurse call systems, fire alarms, generators, boiler plants, and building management systems. You’ll get involved in installations, PAT testing, system checks, and even snow clearing when winter hits.
You’ll also help keep digital records up to date and support other trades when needed. That flexibility is key. In return, you’ll join a tight-knit team who’ve got each other’s backs. There’s real room here for learning, and the Estates department is committed to making sure you’re supported every step of the way.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out electrical planned preventative maintenance to avoid disruption
- Diagnose and repair faults on fixed and portable systems
- Conduct electrical testing and inspections to meet statutory standards
- Support emergency teams during fire alarms and major incidents
- Assist other trades when needed to maintain service flow
- Safely manage and supervise on-site contractors and electrical isolations
- Maintain accurate logs and update CAFM systems
- Ensure plant rooms and workshops are tidy and hazard-free
