Doris Hill, the mother of Luton Town FC legend Ricky Hill, recently celebrated a remarkable milestone—her 100th birthday—with a joyous gathering at a local community center. Born in Kingston, Jamaica, in 1924, Doris moved to England in 1955 and worked in laundry and domestic services in Ladbroke Grove before joining the NHS. She has lived in Luton since 2004 to be closer to her family, which includes three children, three grandchildren, and one great-granddaughter.
Doris marked her special day with an afternoon celebration at the Ameina Centre’s Health and Wellbeing club. Rose Davis, the center’s director, shared her admiration for Doris’s energy and independence, noting that the centenarian stayed well past the usual session time, thoroughly enjoying the festivities.
The celebrations didn’t stop there. Over the weekend, family members from around the globe gathered at the Linton Hotel to honor Doris, where she had the pleasure of opening a birthday card from King Charles and Queen Camilla.
Ricky Hill, who spent 14 years playing for Luton Town FC and now manages the Turks and Caicos Islands national team, was among those celebrating his mother’s incredible life and legacy.
