Job Overview
Exciting opportunities are available within the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Lancashire Teaching Hospitals, one of the Level 3 Centres within the Lancashire and South Cumbria Neonatal Network and the North West Neonatal Operational Delivery Network. The role involves providing intensive, high dependency, special care, and transitional care for babies, including premature and sick infants. This is a dynamic, challenging, and rewarding role within a fast-paced team, offering the chance to develop specialized skills while working in a supportive environment.

Main Duties of the Job
- Provide care for a cohort of patients under the delegation and supervision of the nurse in charge. Responsibilities include assisting with continuous assessment and evaluation of care, performing care risk assessments, supporting admission and discharge processes, and carrying out clinical duties such as personal hygiene, monitoring vital signs, recognizing and escalating acute conditions, and assisting with enteral feeding, oxygen therapy, and meeting nutritional needs.
- Provide support and guidance to other staff and students, helping them reach their full potential.
- Contribute to the operation of the ward environment by maintaining safety, cleanliness, and organization.
- Act in a manner that upholds the Trust’s values and supports the Nursing & Midwifery Professional Framework, ensuring that patients and families receive excellent care.

Qualifications & Education
- Essential
- Maths & English grade 4-9 or grade C or above, or Functional Skills Level 2
- Foundation Degree in Health & Social Care or equivalent Nursery Nurse qualification
- Desirable
- Basic Life Support training
- ECDL or equivalent IT skills
- Evidence of higher education
Knowledge & Experience
- Essential
- Experience of working within multidisciplinary teams
- Experience assisting with clinical procedures
- Knowledge of health and safety practices and infection control
- Desirable
- Experience in an assistant practitioner role
- Significant experience in a Child Health or Maternity setting
