Job Summary
Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Senior Digital Integration Specialist to lead the Genomics workstream within the Group Digital Services team. This role involves developing and evolving an Integration Delivery Roadmap for Genomics order management in the North West, working in collaboration with Trust sites and external partners, including the Liverpool Centre for Genomic Medicine.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead technical integration for Genomics electronic test ordering
- Develop and deliver Low-Level Designs for EPRs, LIMS, and clinical systems
- Ensure compliance with enterprise architecture and security standards
- Drive continuous improvement in the Integration Service for enhanced resilience, risk reduction, and patient experience
- Work with APIs, Web Services (REST/SOAP), HL7/FHIR messaging protocols, and data formats
- Implement DevOps principles for automating integration deployment, testing, and operations
- Manage version control, pipelines, and configuration management
Qualifications
Essential:
- Master’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience in large-scale IT solution implementations
- Epic Bridges certification or Intersystems Healthshare Development certification
Desirable:
- EPIC specialist certification (e.g., Beaker, Radiant, Cupid, Willow)
- Certification in InterSystems toolsets (e.g., Caché server administration, Caché ObjectScript)
- Prince 2 accreditation or familiarity with Agile methodologies
Knowledge and Experience
Essential:
- Extensive experience in designing, developing, testing, and managing interfaces using Intersystems HealthShare and Epic Bridges
- Advanced software development skills using Caché ObjectScript
- Experience in managing Intersystems Caché/IRIS integration server platforms
- In-depth knowledge of NHS data flows, hospital clinical system integrations, and HL7 messaging
- Strong technical documentation and problem-solving skills
- Experience in IT project management, including business case development
Desirable:
- Knowledge of enterprise architecture and system integration best practices
- Experience in SQL, Oracle, or other RDBMS environments
- Knowledge of business workflows in ED, Laboratory, Radiology, and Pharmacy
- Experience in Windows, Apache, and service-oriented architecture delivery
- Background in 2nd or 3rd line IT support

Other Requirements
