Requirements
- Experience supporting people with mental health or neurodevelopmental conditions
- Strong communication and organisation skills
- Enthusiastic about helping autistic individuals reach their goals
- Prior experience as an Occupational Therapy Assistant, healthcare support worker, or similar role
- Comfortable working in community settings and occasionally alone
- Numeracy, literacy, and IT qualification at Level 2 or equivalent
- 104 UCAS points or equivalent experience in a relevant field
- Eager to learn, take initiative, and contribute meaningfully to the care team
Salary Details
This role pays between £26,530 and £29,114 per year, based on experience and aligned with Band 4 under the NHS Agenda for Change
About the Role
This is more than just a support role. As an Occupational Therapy Assistant, you’ll work side-by-side with a qualified Occupational Therapist, helping people with both autism and mental health conditions build a better balance in their daily lives. The focus is on meaningful recovery, and you’ll help develop and deliver care plans that promote independence, confidence, and real-world change.
Working as part of a vibrant multidisciplinary team, you’ll be based across neighbourhoods in Stafford, Cannock, and Codsall. Expect variety, autonomy, and the chance to make each day count. If you’re passionate about impactful work, this one’s for you.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver tailored OT interventions that promote independence and mental wellbeing
- Work in partnership with individuals to meet their self-care, productivity, and leisure goals
- Contribute insights during assessment and planning stages
- Provide consistent, compassionate support to service users and their families
- Engage service users in activities that build confidence and practical skills
- Work independently in homes and community settings with guidance from registered OT
- Keep accurate records and communicate progress to the wider team
