Requirements

  • Foundation Degree in Health and Social Care or equivalent qualification
  • NVQ3 with extra accredited training in the specialist field
  • Previous hands-on rehab experience as a Band 3 Therapy Assistant or similar
  • Great communicator who can build rapport with a range of people
  • Confident decision-maker who can follow protocols
  • Comfortable working solo and under the guidance of a registered practitioner
  • Holds a current UK driving licence and has access to a car for work

Salary Details

The salary ranges from £26,530 to £29,114 per year, dependent on experience and qualifications. It’s a full-time, 37.5-hour role with varied shift patterns (8–4 / 12–8 on weekdays and 9–5 on weekends or bank holidays).

About the Role

As an Occupational Therapy Technician, you’ll be part of the Enhanced Support Team supporting adults with learning disabilities across South Essex – including Southend, Castlepoint, Rochford, Basildon, Brentwood, Wickford, and Thurrock. You’ll help people in mental health crises avoid inpatient care and continue living in their homes with dignity.

You’ll work closely with qualified Occupational Therapists and other specialists. After completing your training, you’ll carry out delegated care tasks, enabling service users to stay active, independent, and safe. Every day is different – but every day counts.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support patients with independent living skills and rehabilitation
  • Deliver goal-focused interventions under therapist supervision
  • Feedback on patient progress, outcomes, and concerns
  • Keep accurate, up-to-date records of therapy sessions
  • Reduce risks and promote wellbeing in each individual’s environment
  • Help patients re-engage with meaningful community activities
