Requirements
- Good general education, ideally with NVQ Level 3 or counselling qualifications
- Previous experience in a supportive or advocacy role
- Understanding of trauma, safeguarding, and confidentiality practices
- Excellent listening, written, and verbal communication skills
- Calm under pressure with a genuine desire to support survivors
- Must be able to drive, hold a clean licence, and reach site within 60 minutes
- Willing to work evenings, weekends, and public holidays on a rotating basis
Salary Details
Annual salary of £27,485 to £30,162, with additional £14.51 per on-call shift and £14.15 per hour for call-outs and telephone support. You’ll work a minimum of four on-call shifts per month, scheduled between evenings and weekends.
About the Role
This On Call Crisis Worker role gives you a front-line position in helping victims of sexual assault begin their journey toward healing. Based at SAFE Place Merseyside, you’ll provide out-of-hours telephone support and crisis intervention for clients undergoing forensic medical examinations.
Working remotely on-call, you’ll offer calm reassurance and guide survivors through a distressing process. The team will train you thoroughly, and you’ll never be left to manage it alone. Your presence matters. Your voice can change a life.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide immediate emotional support to clients following sexual trauma
- Deliver telephone crisis intervention during out-of-hours shifts
- Assist in managing forensic appointments with professionalism and empathy
- Work closely with a multidisciplinary team to ensure coordinated care
- Maintain accurate and confidential documentation
- Support clients’ safety and well-being while explaining processes clearly
