Requirements
- Experience working with children in clinical or supportive roles
- Awareness of child development stages, especially from 0–5 years
- Completed NVQ Level 4 or equivalent therapy-based qualification
- Skilled in delivering care within scope and communicating effectively with families
- Physically fit for a role that requires moderate daily effort
- Knowledge of therapy team functions: physio, OT, SLT, dietetics
- Comfortable using computers and entering clinical data accurately
Bonus if you’ve got Makaton training or a diploma-level qualification. Experience in hospital or community settings is a strong plus too.
Salary Details
This role offers a competitive salary between £31,944 and £34,937 annually, aligned with NHS Band 4, and comes with full-time hours and generous NHS employment benefits.
About the Role
Based at Royal Brompton Hospital, with possible work at Evelina London Children’s Hospital, this is a chance to really make a mark. You’ll support infants and children with cardiorespiratory conditions, assisting across a wide range of therapy services. Whether you’re carrying out neurodevelopmental therapy, helping with feeding and communication programmes, or delivering nutritional assessments, your work will directly support young lives.
You’ll be part of a tight-knit multidisciplinary team, working on wards, in HDUs, ICUs, and outpatient clinics. Every day offers variety, challenge, and the reward of knowing you’re making a difference.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver therapy plans set by physiotherapists, occupational therapists, and other clinicians
- Support feeding programmes and communication development for paediatric patients
- Conduct basic nutritional reviews and update patient records
- Communicate clearly and compassionately with children, families, and the wider team
- Participate actively in ward-based rehabilitation and outpatient sessions
Disclosure and Barring Service Check
This job involves regulated activity with children and is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974. A Disclosure and Barring Service check is required.
