About the Role
You’ll join a symptom management service that supports children and young people dealing with long term health conditions. Many arrive unsure of what their bodies are doing or why their energy feels drained. You’ll help them name what’s happening and find a path forward.
Your days will mix assessment, therapeutic work and time with a multidisciplinary team that values open conversation. You’ll meet families who want clarity and reassurance, and you’ll guide them in ways that ease emotional strain. The work stretches your clinical judgement but also rewards your patience.
If you’ve ever wanted a role where psychological insight shifts the trajectory of a child’s recovery, this is exactly that kind of space.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide assessments that help children understand their symptoms and feel less overwhelmed because clarity reduces fear
- Deliver individual and group interventions that build coping strategies so daily life becomes more manageable
- Support families with guidance that strengthens communication and reduces tension at home
- Offer consultation to colleagues so the wider team can respond with psychological insight
- Attend MDT meetings to share updates that keep care joined up and consistent
- Shape therapeutic plans that consider physical, emotional and social needs because each element affects recovery
