Requirements
- Associate Practitioner qualification or currently working towards it.
- Previous experience working within the NHS in a primary or secondary care setting.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with patients, carers, and colleagues.
- Motivated and able to work independently while collaborating in a team.
- Experience supporting people with mental health conditions.
- Confidence performing physical health checks such as ECGs, phlebotomy, and vital sign monitoring.
- Willingness to learn and develop through supervision and additional training.
Salary Details
This Band 4 position offers a salary between £27,485 and £30,162 per annum, with benefits under the NHS Agenda for Change pay scheme.
About the Role
As a Physical Health Support Worker in the Community Adolescent Eating Disorders Service (CAEDS), you’ll play a key role in supporting patients to maintain their physical health and recovery journey. You’ll carry out essential physical health checks, including ECGs, phlebotomy, and monitoring vital signs, ensuring that every patient receives safe and effective care.
You’ll work closely with specialist clinicians, helping create and deliver care plans that promote long-term wellbeing. Whether it’s offering reassurance during health checks or liaising with GPs and hospitals, your role will help patients stay on track toward better health outcomes.
This position is ideal for someone passionate about holistic healthcare, teamwork, and continuous learning. You’ll be supported through supervision and development opportunities while contributing to an expanding service that’s making a real difference across Essex.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform physical health checks such as ECGs, phlebotomy, and blood pressure monitoring to assess and support patient wellbeing.
- Collaborate with clinicians and carers to co-produce care and support plans that empower patients to manage their health.
- Monitor and escalate concerns using clear pathways to ensure patient safety.
- Work autonomously and within a team, providing consistent and reliable support across the service.
- Maintain accurate records in line with Trust policies to support continuity of care.
- Build trusted relationships with patients and carers, offering encouragement and empathy.
