Requirements
- Level 3 Diploma in physiotherapy support or equivalent
- GCSE Maths and English (A–C) or Essential Skills in Wales
- Experience with manual handling and therapeutic interventions
- Ability to assess and treat patients under indirect supervision
- Must complete Level 4 therapy apprenticeship or 120 credits within 2 years of start
- Basic IT skills for data input and communication
- A caring, positive attitude and strong interpersonal skills
- Ability to travel across the HDUHB area on a regular basis

Band 4 NHS Agenda for Change scale, between 26,928 and 29,551 per year based on experience and qualifications.
About the Role
Here’s your chance to work where every visit matters. This Physiotherapy Assistant Practitioner role isn’t stuck behind a desk. You’ll be out in the community, supporting people recovering from surgery, living with neurological conditions, frailty, or mental health challenges.
From helping reduce falls risk to making sure someone discharged yesterday can move safely today, your role is all about practical impact. You’ll be trusted to work solo within agreed treatment plans, and yet still be part of a close-knit physiotherapy team that’s got your back.
And yes, they’re developing 7-day services. It’s not about clocking in and out. It’s about showing up when it counts.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver hands-on physiotherapy support in homes and on-site locations
- Help patients improve mobility, reduce fall risks, and regain independence
- Use clinical reasoning to assess patient needs and adjust care within protocols
- Keep accurate records and share updates with the wider team
- Promote safe use of mobility and therapeutic equipment
- Work flexibly as part of a community-focused service
- Support staff training and innovation when opportunities arise
