Job Description:
Weightmans, a top UK law firm, is seeking a qualified Solicitor (NQ or 1 year PQE) to join their national Casualty Police Claims team in Liverpool or Manchester. The role involves managing and running a caseload of pre-litigated and litigated claims for various police forces. Key responsibilities include:
- Defending civil actions against the police, including false imprisonment, trespass, malicious prosecution, and Human Rights Act claims.
- Managing employer’s liability claims.
- Assisting with client development, training, and networking.
- Liaising with solicitors, insurers, experts, counsel, and clients.
- Handling court hearings and conducting advocacy as needed.
- Meeting client care standards and financial targets.
- Staying updated on legal developments and complying with Weightmans’ values.
