Requirements

  • Degree or diploma in Radiography, Midwifery, or a relevant health/science field
  • Registered with HCPC or relevant professional body

Salary Details

The training post is paid at Band 6, with a fully qualified Sonographer progressing to Band 7, offering a salary range of £37,338 to £52,809 per year depending on progression and experience.

About the Role

This role is perfect for someone who’s ready to take the next step into a specialised clinical pathway. As a Post Graduate Trainee Sonographer, you’ll work side-by-side with experienced professionals, developing practical skills across General Ultrasound, Obstetrics, and Gynaecology.

The programme combines real-time clinical work with academic study delivered online, all while being fully employed by the NHS. From state-of-the-art ultrasound rooms in NNUH to general services in Cromer, your work will have reach and impact.

It’s a full-on but rewarding learning journey that leads to nationally recognised qualifications and opens the door to further NHS career growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform and interpret ultrasound exams, sharing findings with clinical teams
  • Deliver high-quality patient care under supervision while learning independently
  • Build experience across multiple locations, supporting a 7-day ultrasound service
  • Contribute to safe, accurate diagnostic pathways
  • Develop skills in breaking difficult news and managing sensitive interactions
  • Take part in regular in-service training and CPD activities
  • Demonstrate NHS values through every patient and team interaction
