Requirements

  • Registered Mental Health or LD Nurse, Occupational Therapist, or Social Worker
  • UK professional registration with the NMC or equivalent body
  • 18 months post-qualifying experience with completed preceptorship or competency framework
  • Strong assessment and care planning skills
  • Team player with experience working in mental health or community settings
  • Comfortable working in secure or high-demand environments
  • Willingness to undertake supervision and mentoring responsibilities
  • Commitment to equal opportunities and person-centred care

Salary Details

This role offers a Band 6 salary, from £37,338 to £44,962 per year (pro rata) depending on experience. You’ll be part of the Agenda for Change pay scheme, which also includes NHS pension, holiday entitlements, and more.

About the Role

This isn’t just another clinical role — it’s a rare chance to step into a freshly built mental health service where no day looks the same. As a Prison Mental Health Clinical Lead, you’ll work within a multi-disciplinary team to support complex individuals in custody. You’ll deliver planned and urgent care, design and coordinate recovery-based interventions, and take the lead in managing care pathways.

The prison setting challenges your thinking and stretches your skills — but it also opens doors to impact lives in meaningful ways. You’ll work closely with partner services and other healthcare professionals to create a supportive, effective approach to mental health treatment.
