About the Role
This role is ideal for someone committed to public safety, rehabilitation, and working directly with people on probation. You’ll handle a range of tasks, from assessments and report writing to managing community orders and supporting people during custodial sentences. Your work will help reduce reoffending and protect the public.
Main Responsibilities
- Assess and manage the risk people on probation may pose to others.
- Write professional reports for courts, parole boards, and partner agencies.
- Supervise individuals serving community orders or custodial sentences.
- Use internal systems to track progress, record actions, and maintain case notes.
- Work closely with agencies such as prisons, victim contact units, and approved premises.
- Attend meetings with other professionals, including MAPPA and MARAC forums.
- Provide guidance to Probation Services Officers and contribute to team performance.
- Carry out visits to homes, prisons, or alternative sites as needed.
- Support programme delivery, including group sessions and behavioural interventions.
- Ensure safeguarding of children and follow all prescribed procedures for safety and welfare.

You’ll need to be confident in working with people from all walks of life, often in challenging situations. You’ll be expected to model and promote positive behaviour and attitudes, while applying professional judgement to assess risk and encourage rehabilitation.
Working Arrangements
This role supports hybrid working, depending on business needs. You’ll be based in one of our South West offices, but may also work from home or other approved locations. Part-time and job-share applications are welcomed, and flexible working requests will be considered in line with our policy.
