Job Overview
The University Hospitals of North Midlands NHS Trust is seeking a Receptionist for the Outpatient department. As the first point of contact for patients, carers, relatives, and staff, you will provide a professional, courteous, and patient-focused reception service. The role involves handling patient queries, booking appointments, and ensuring a smooth patient journey through various systems such as Choose and Book, Savience, and iPortal.
Main Duties
- Handle telephone and in-person enquiries from patients and staff.
- Notify patients of clinic delays and assist with appointment scheduling and follow-ups.
- Promote the use of the self-check-in system (Savience) and resolve any technical issues.
- Book appointments using Choose and Book, Careflow/CRIS, and ensure accurate data entry.
- Maintain patient records and demographic information in Trust systems.
- Support patients by resolving appointment, clinic, or general queries, ensuring all details are accurately recorded.
- Ensure patient health records are prepared and complete for clinic appointments.

Person Specification
- Essential Criteria
- Basic computer and IT skills.
- Experience in reception duties, including telephone and computer work.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and integrity at all times.
- Desirable Criteria
- Customer service training.
- Experience in NHS reception roles.
- A positive, enthusiastic, and can-do attitude.
