Requirements
- NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care or equivalent experience in similar settings.
- Knowledge of substances and their effects, and harm reduction approaches.
- Experience supporting people with substance use needs or within integrated care settings.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills within multidisciplinary environments.
- Motivation to empower service users towards recovery and positive change.
- Desirable: training in CBT, Motivational Interviewing, or Brief Solution-Focused Therapy.
Salary Details
This Band 5 role offers a salary between £31,049 and £37,796 per annum, reflecting your experience and contribution to helping individuals achieve recovery goals.
About the Role
As a Recovery Worker with the Substance Misuse Service at HMP Bullingdon, you’ll work closely with individuals navigating substance use and complex backgrounds. Your goal is simple yet profound: help them rediscover hope and take steps toward lasting recovery.
You’ll deliver a blend of psychological and psychosocial interventions, build trust with service users, and collaborate with clinical teams to ensure each person receives joined-up care. Each day, your work will shape real outcomes for those who’ve often been overlooked, offering structure, compassion, and a pathway forward.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver individual and group psychosocial interventions that promote recovery and wellbeing.
- Conduct assessments, develop recovery plans, and coordinate care tailored to each service user’s goals.
- Work closely with prescribing and clinical services to ensure continuity of care.
- Support the delivery of substance misuse and wellbeing programmes within the integrated offender team.
- Contribute to the wider prison and community drug strategy, helping shape a safer, more supportive environment.
- Record accurate information and maintain confidentiality to ensure accountability and quality service delivery.
