Requirements

• MSc or PhD in Data Science, Computer Science, or a related field
• Strong track record in image processing, AI, and machine learning
• Skills in Python, segmentation, object detection, GANs, transformers
• Clinical data experience or interest in EHR, imaging, and pathology
• Demonstrated initiative and problem-solving mindset
• Comfortable working in cross-functional teams with senior stakeholders
• Open to learning new tools and working flexibly
• Excellent written and verbal communication

Salary Details

This role offers a competitive NHS salary between £54,320 and £60,981 per year, depending on experience.

Looking to combine your passion for data with meaningful health outcomes? This Research Data Analyst role might just be your calling. You’ll be building tools and models that directly shape cancer detection, diagnosis, and treatment across North East London and beyond. The work is powered by a wealth of health data from Barts Health NHS Trust, including diagnostic imaging and pathology archives, and it’s done in close partnership with Queen Mary University of London and local stakeholders.

This isn’t just another academic role. It’s a real chance to help design AI that makes clinicians faster, more accurate, and more human in their care delivery. Every algorithm, model, and data pipeline you touch could improve lives.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead design and development of AI models using complex health datasets
• Build image-based ML systems for diagnosis and decision support
• Collaborate with clinicians and researchers to fine-tune outputs
• Use and refine data from EHR, tissue banks, imaging, and more
• Ensure outputs are reproducible, interpretable, and clinically usable
• Contribute to grant writing and project funding opportunities
• Support ethical, compliant use of data aligned with governance standards
