About the Role
This Research Fellow position focuses on improving annual health checks for children and young people with learning disabilities. Uptake of these checks is currently low, and your role will be to dig into the reasons why, co-design an intervention alongside families and professionals, and test its feasibility.
You’ll lead recruitment, data management and analysis, and help shape the design of interventions that could influence national healthcare policy. The work isn’t just academic—it will help ensure that young people with learning disabilities receive the care they deserve at a critical stage in life.
As part of a supportive academic team, you’ll collaborate with clinicians, community partners and fellow researchers. It’s a chance to be at the heart of meaningful health research that carries both immediate and long-term impact.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead participant recruitment ensuring the project represents the right voices
- Manage and analyse large datasets to uncover evidence that drives decisions
- Coordinate co-design processes where families, carers and professionals create practical solutions together
- Develop and test interventions that aim to boost uptake of annual health checks
- Produce clear reports, manuscripts and publications to share findings widely
- Liaise with academic and clinical teams to keep the project on track and connected
Disclosure and Barring Service Check
This role requires an Enhanced DBS check due to work involving young people.
